Akhil's office in a high-rise building was on a floor that had as many floors above it as below. One day, he went up 7 floors from his office, then down 4 floors and finally up 9 floors. If he was at the top floor now, how many floors did the building have in all?​

Up floors=7

Down floors = 4

=7-4

=3

=3+9

=12

hence, the answer is 12 floors .

Solution :-

Let us assume that, Akhil office was at x floor from bottom .

So,

→ He went up to = 7 floors .

Then,

→ He is at = (x + 7) floors .

again,

→ He went down = 4 floors .

So,

→ He is at = (x + 7) - 4 = (x + 3) floors .

finally,

→ He went up = 9 floors .

So,

→ He is at = (x + 3) + 9 = (x + 12) floors .

Now, he was at top floor .

Also given that, He had as many floors above it as below.

since finally he went 12 floors above his office . Therefore we can conclude that, there are 12 floors below him also .

Hence,

→ Total floors the building have = 12 + 1 + 12 = 25 floors (Ans.)
