Akhil's office in a high-rise building was on a floor that had as many floors above it as below. One day, he went up 7 floors from his office, then down 4 floors and finally up 9 floors. If he was at the top floor now, how many floors did the building have in all?
Answers
given,
Up floors=7
Down floors = 4
=7-4
=3
=3+9
=12
hence, the answer is 12 floors .
Solution :-
Let us assume that, Akhil office was at x floor from bottom .
So,
→ He went up to = 7 floors .
Then,
→ He is at = (x + 7) floors .
again,
→ He went down = 4 floors .
So,
→ He is at = (x + 7) - 4 = (x + 3) floors .
finally,
→ He went up = 9 floors .
So,
→ He is at = (x + 3) + 9 = (x + 12) floors .
Now, he was at top floor .
Also given that, He had as many floors above it as below.
since finally he went 12 floors above his office . Therefore we can conclude that, there are 12 floors below him also .
Hence,
→ Total floors the building have = 12 + 1 + 12 = 25 floors (Ans.)
[ Akhil office is at 13th floor . ]
