Akriti takes two containers P and Q, both half-filled with water. She places a hot metal block in container P and an ice block in container Q. After some time the temperature in both the containers is stabilized. Which of the following correctly shows the mode(s) by which heat was transferred between water and the metal block in container P and water and the ice block in container Q?  Only conduction  Only convection  Both conduction and convection Justify your answer for both cases with a detailed explanation.

C are placed in three containers P, Q and R, which are kept in a constant temperature environment. Identical heating elements are placed inside each container. These heating elements are powered with different voltages:100 V, 200 V and 300 V in containers P, Q and R, respectively. It was found that it took 20 minutes to melt all the ice in container Q, and it took 4 minutes to melt all the ice in container R. Assuming that at any instant heat is uniformly dissipated in each container throughout its volume,

Option c Both conduction and convection

in container P the heat of the metal block was absorbed by the water so we can say that heat of the metal block was conducted by the water(conduction).

iIn container Q all the heat of the water was absorbed by the ice and ice melts. Now the water becomes cooler and absorbs heat from the atmosphere your convection takes place.
