Solution:

The vant Hoff i- factor determine the effect of solute on different colligative properties such as depression of freezing point, evaluation of boiling point, osmotic pressure etc.

Vant Hoff factor is the total number of ions produces when a species dissociates.

Al(NO_3)_3 dissociate as-

Al(NO_3)_3\rightarrow Al^{+3}+3NO_3^-

Thus it produces a total of 1+3=4 ions.

Vant Hoff i- factor will be 4.
