Al reacts with dil.HNO3 but not with con. HNO3. Why?

=> HNO3 is strong oxidising agent.

=> O2 makes a oxygen layer on aluminium surface in air.

=> So, Al does not react with conc. HNO3 in air.

=> But in dilute medium HNO3 reacts with Al because O2 seperate from surface..
