Given : Alanna is painting a border on a wall.

The border consists of kite-shaped

Each kite measures 6 inches across and 12 inches long. The wall is 12 feet across.

To Find :   . How many square inches of the wall will be covered with kites

Solution:

Area of rhombus  = (1/2) * product of diagonals

=> Area of 1 kite = (1/2) * 6 * 12  = 36 sq inches

Now across width of kite = 6 inches

The wall is 12 feet across

1  feet = 12 inches

Hence wall is 12 x 12 = 144 inches across

Number of kites can be fitted on wall = 144/6  = 24

Total area of 24 kite s= 24 * 36

= 864 sq inches
