The author makes this remark because before Albert could use the hard procured medical certificate for nervous breakdown to get a long leave from the school, Mr. Braun had already set the Headmaster against Albert by complaining against him. Before Albert could get a chance to go to the headmaster with his medical certificate and claim a long leave, he was called in the office and asked to leave the school on his own accord. So Albert did not need to use the certificate. He was expelled from the school. Albert so much wanted to show the certificate to the headmaster and tell him that he himself was not willing to study at his school; he wanted to show him the medical certificate he had obtained from Dr. Weil, however he considered it unnecessary. This not being able to show the certificate hurt him a little.

◆Einstein felt this way because he was facing the head master who had accused him a number of charges. The medical certificate burnt a hole because it could have made the head master realise what kind of thoughts he already had for the school.
