here is your answer !!
when , the alcohol REACT with Sodium , it release the. hydrogen gas .
when the ethanol or alcohol is react with sodium metal it liberate hydrogen gas.
following are the equation that show the reaction between alcohol and sodium
C2 H5OH + Na ( s ) ====> 2 C2H5ONa + H2
on balancing them we get
2 C2 H5OH + 2 Na ==> 2 C2H2O Na + H2 .
here in this case there is formation of Sodium ethoxide ( C2H2 ONa ). + HYDROGEN gas .
hence ,
Option number D is correct
★ ans :-D ★
hope it helps you dear !!!
thanks !!!

Given:
The alcohol for the reaction.
To find:
Which material will releases the hydrogen gas.
Solution:
When an alcohol or any other member of this group like ethanol react with sodium. This will release the hydrogen gas. The reaction as
2C₂H₅OH + 2Na → 2C₂H₅OH + H₂
So, the option D is correct.
