Profit for selling each white cement bag = Rs. 8

Loss for selling each grey cement bag = Rs. 5

Bags of white cement sold by the company = 3,000

Bags of grey cement sold by the company = 5,000

Hence profit earned by the company = 3,000 × 8 = Rs.24,000

Loss incurred by the company = 5,000 × 5 = Rs. 25,000

25,000 is greater than 24,000, Hence there is a loss of Rs. 100 for the company.

B.What is the number of white cement bags it must sell to have neither profit nor loss if the number of grey cement bags sold is 6400 bags?

Solution:

To find: The required the number of white cement bags to equal the amount.

Given: Total grey cement bags = 6,400.

Now, the loss incurred by the company = 6,400 × 5 = 32,000

Hence, to make the amounts equal, the profit should also be the same.

Therefore, the profit is Rs. 32,000

No. of white cement bags = 32,000 ÷ 8

That is equal to 4,000

So, the required no. of white cement bags to equal the amount are 4,000.
