The photosynthesizing organism iscalled a photobiont. Algal photobionts are called phycobionts. Cyanobacteria photobionts are called cyanobionts. The part of a lichen that is not involved in reproduction, the "body" or "vegetative tissue" of a lichen, is calledthe thallus.
