You can consider one item as X and another one as Y in each question.. then make 2 equations with the variables as asked in the question.. after that solve them, you will get the value of both X and y in each case... then multiply the value of X and y to the constant to how many times you need that thing...

for example in the 1st question..

let,

no. of chairs= x

no. of tables= y

ATQ,

99x + 101y = 1996

101x + 99y = 2004

then solve both the equations to get the value of X and y...

After getting the values you can find the cost of any no. of chairs and tables...
