Solution:

(A) x/3 - 2 = x/4 + 5

  • x/3 - x/4 = 5 + 2
  • (4x - 3x)/12 = 7
  • 4x - 3x = 84
  • x = 84

(B) x/5 + 3 = x/6 + 12

  • x/5 - x/6 = 12 - 3
  • (6x - 5x)/30 = 9
  • 6x - 5x = 270
  • x = 270

(C) 3/8 (x - 5) = 9 -2x

  • (3x - 15)/8 = 9 - 2x
  • 3x - 15 = 8 (9 - 2x)
  • 3x - 15 = 72 - 16x
  • 3x + 16x = 72 + 15
  • 19x = 87
  • x = 87/19
