journey of ali was indeed a lonely affair as at every step he had been reminiscing about his daughter mariyam . also , there was no person who understood his pain on separation from mariyam and the way he waited for her letter. he was also mocked by the postmaster and other employes of post office , who didn't understand him and he felt as if he were alone in the world.

Ali's journey to the post office was lonely because he was in last stage of his life and he wanted her daughter's letter before he died. He daily visited post office for her daughter's letter before he died but the letter didn't came.
