Given : 210 one-centimetre cubes

Make a cuboid such that each of its sides is longer than 1 cm.

There are 6 possible cuboids

To Find : the dimensions of any 3 of them.

Solution:

210 one-centimetre cubes

=> Volume of cuboid  = 210 cm³

210 = 2 x 3 x 5 x 7

There are 4 factors  we can take 2 factors in one dimension an two others for other two side

2 factors out of 4 can be selected in ⁴C₂  = 6  ways

2 * 3  = 6  , 5 , 7

2 * 5  = 10  , 3 , 7

2 * 7 = 14  , 3 , 5

3 * 5 = 15  , 2 , 7

3 * 7  = 21 , 2 , 5

5 * 7 = 35 , 2  , 3

Dimensions of all 6 cuboids in cm  are

5  , 6 , 7

3 , 7 , 10

3 , 5  , 14

2 , 7 , 15

2 , 5 , 21

2 , 3 , 35
