Alice and Dormouse considered each other impolite. (a) was the march hare impolite? (b) in what way was Alice impolite?
Answers
March Hare
March Hare and Mad Hatter were having tea and the Dormouse was sleeping between them. When Alice approached they shouted that there was no place for her. March Hare was impolite because even though the table was quite large he shouted that there was no place for Alice.
Alice
The table was quite big so Alice said that there was plenty of room and seated herself at the table. She was impolite because she joined them without being invited.
Alice and the Dormouse
Alice is impolite because she argues and interrupts when the Dormouse is telling the story. The Dormouse is impolite when he does not give proper explanations and threatens to end the story if she does not stop interrupting.
Alice happens to see a tea party take place round a big table with just the March Hare, Mad Hatter and Dormouse attending it. Only the March Hatter and Mad Hatter made conversation while Dormouse slept in between them most of the time. Both of them seemed insane throughout while Dormouse appeared mad only when he was awake. Alice, March Hare and Dormouse were impolite in their own way.
Alice welcomed herself to the tea party and sat down for tea on her own. Although there was ample space and food for her, her act of sitting down at the table without being invited was a sign of impoliteness.
Even though the table was big enough and there was enough space for Alice, March Hatter asks her to leave instead of inviting her to join them.
Dormouse kept saying unbelievable stories that had no logic in them. While the others just listened, Alice asked questions repeatedly and interrupts the tales with her questions. This angers Dormouse and he snubs at her. He refuses to continue narrating his tale unless she left the party.
