Alice is standing on the roof of the school, above Bob’s English classroom. She drops a stone
off of the side of the building (and probably gets suspended later – this is unsafe!). Bob sees
the stone fall past the 1.80 tall window in 0.400 .
a) Determine the distance between the top of the classroom’s window and the roof.
b) Determine the stone’s velocity as it passes the bottom of the window.

Answer:

Distance between the top of classroom's window  and the roof is 0.8m. Stone's velocity as it passes the bottom of the window is 7.21m/s

Explanation:

v=u+at

v=0+10*0.4=4m/s

v^{2}-u^{2}=2as

s=0.8m

when it reaches bottom of window,

u=4m/s    a=10     s=1.8

so v=7.21m/s
