Given : Alisha wants to survey 30% of her  students

She surveys 81 students in total

there are 156 students in year 12,

To Find : how many students are there in year 13

Solution:

Let say  students   in year 13  = S

students   in year 12  = 156

Total Students = S + 156

Students surveyed = 30 %

Students surveyed = (30/100)(S + 156)

=  (3/10)(S + 156)

Students surveyed =  81

Equating both

=>  (3/10)(S + 156) = 81

=> S + 156 = 270

=> S =  114

students   in year 13  are 114
