Yes, the electronegativity goes on decreasing in a group for alkali earth type metals.

REASON :

In a group, the atoms goes on becoming larger and larger in size. Due to this, the electrons are not so strongly attracted by the power of nucleus. And electronegativity is inversely proportional to size. If the size of an element is small, then it will have more electronegativity. This is the reason of why the electronegativy decreases in a group.

Answer:Yes alkali earth metals have low values of electonegativity which decrease down the group

Explanation:1. Moving down the group the bonds formed between these elements and other elements such as chlorine become more ionic.

2. The bonding pair is increasingly attracted away from the group 2 elements towards the more electronegative elements.
