Yes Eg: Nacl , Extraction of sodium metal from its chloride form. Some Metal solution will be insoluble and cannot be changed to Gaseous state. But Chlorides are easily reduced and evolve them as they are belonging to the Halogen group

On preparing aqueous solutions, we would get compounds other than the those we require.

For eg:

2NaCl + 2H2O = 2NaOH + Cl2 + H2

Hence, we perform electrolysis of fused halides and not of aqueous solutions.
