The formula for alkane is CnH2n+2
The names of alkanes are
Methane
Ethane
Propane
Butane
Pentane
Hexane
Beltane
Octane
Nonane
Decane

The formula is CnH2n+2 , and by putting n=1 you will get CH4 which is methane then by putting 2 u would get C2H6 which is called Ethane and then use prop , but ,pent,hex,hept,oct ,non,dec and add ane to each for the name where n =3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 .....!!
