 \underline{ \bf{ADDITION \: \: REACTION : }}

The reaction in which two molecules react to form a single product are called addition reaction.

Unsaturated compound such as alkenes contains double bonds between carbon atoms . Because of the present of double bond , they undergo addition reaction.

 \bf{Example : }

Addition of Hydrogen.

Hydrogen reacts with ethene in the presence of Nickel catalyst to form ethane. This reaction is called Hydrogenation. It converts alkenes into alkanes.

 \underline{ \bf{Reaction \: \: Involved : }}

Ethene + Hydrogen --------> Ethane.
