The cell or the plasma membrane:
- This is the basic unit of an animal cell.
- It is a fluid-like “selectively permeable membranous layer” composed of lipids, protein and carbohydrates.
- The basic function of the ‘cell membrane’ is providing stability and protection to the cell.
Cytoplasm:
- The Cytoplasm, body of the cell, lies between the “nucleus and the cell membrane”.
- All the cell organelles like the nucleus, Golgi body, etc lie in the cytoplasm.
Nucleus:
- The Nucleus is “the centermost, largest part” and the “control centre” of the cell.
- It is covered by a nuclear envelope and consists of the genetic strands called the DNA which stores genetic information.
