All colours.) There are 20 gloves in a drawer: 5 pairs of black gloves, 3 pairs of brown, 2 pairs of grey. You select the gloves in the dark and check them only after you have made the selection. What is the least number of gloves you need to select to guarantee getting at least one pair of EACH color (black, brown and grey)?

The least number of gloves you need to select is 3 times because we can pair only by mistaking 3 times or even less

The answer is 19 gloves.

Given,

Total gloves = 20

The pair of black gloves = 5

The pair of brown gloves = 3

The pair of grey gloves = 2

To Find,

The least number of gloves you need to select to guarantee to get at least one pair of EACH color =?

Solution,

The number of black gloves = 2 * 5 = 10

The number of brown gloves = 2 * 3 = 6

The number of grey gloves = 2 * 2 = 4

To pick at least one pair of each color we will first pick all-black gloves then all brown gloves then 2 grey gloves of the same hand. Then next glove will be the right-hand grey gloves and pair of each color will be complete.

Therefore, total gloves required = 10 + 6 + 2 + 1

Total gloves required = 19

Hence, the least number of gloves you need to select to guarantee to get at least one pair of EACH color is 19.
