you can find valency easily by the atomic number. supposingly you have an element calcium its electronic configuration is 2,8,8,2 in the last shell the number of electrons is 2 so it will give 2 electrons and its valency would be +2.now lets take chlorine its electronic configuration is 2,8,7 it cannot give 7 electrons so it will take 1 electron and complete its outermost shell so its valency is -1. hope you can find the valencies of the elements.
