Anything that is outside the body is an external stimuli. All living things get affected by it external stimuli.

  1. If our hands touches a hot pan we move it backwards with reflexive movement. Hot pan is an external stimuli to which our body involuntarily responded too.
  2. Similarly sunlight is an external stimuli for plants. Their shoots grow in direction of sunlight. For roots water is an external stimuli. They grow towards water and nutrients.
