All love is expansion all selfishness is contraction:
Every act of love will always have a positive attribute whereas every act of selfishness will always have negative attribute. The result of the acts may not reflect then and there but it may reflect after a very long time which will affect themselves and people around them.
Thus, when a person does something out of love then the person is extending their hand for help and care. When a people does something for their own self or selfishness then the person is breaking the chain of love and care. The person is also contracting the chain by not giving their hand.
One should always be taught to extend hand and not contract it.
