All mammals (except a few) have 7 cervical vertebra.

Cervical vertebrae are the vertebrae of the neck, present just below the skull in vertebrates.

The cervical vertebrae are numbered from C1 to C7, where C1 lies closest to the skull and C2 to C7 are in the spine.

C1 and C2 are the most special ones with the names of atlas and axis respectively.
