Answer:

Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends.

Today, we have gathered to observe 'Earth Day'. We are aware that the environment is deteriorating year by year. Earth Day is celebrated to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Of late, climatic changes have been observed majorly due to the fast depletion of resources because of urbanisation and commercialisation. These climatic changes have to lead to more intense heat waves, rise in sea level and are a major threat to the bio-diversity. In India especially, climate change has disturbed the crop cycle due to rain deficit monsoons. But we have not lost our planet Earth completely. We may feel,

"How can one person bring about any change?" However, we need to realise that every person's actions matter. By making small changes in our daily lives like switching off the t.v., a.c when not in use, we can bring about big changes. Afforestation is a great solution to the problem as trees are the sources of sustaining life on earth. So, let's take an oath to do our best for the environment and our planet.

Thank you.
