No all plants are not autotrophic.Autotrophic plants are those plants that prepare their own food by the process of photosynthesis.Ex:-Some green plants like Ball Moss,Lichens, etc. But some plants like Pitcher plant, etc.are heterotrophic as they trap animals and take nutrients from them. These plants are therefore known as heterotrophs and don't have the capability to do photosynthesis due to absence of chlorophyll. So,all plants are not autotrophic.

ajaytashu: You are right .There are heterotrophic & saprophytic plants also

Answer:

No, all plants aren't autotrophic.

Explanation:

Autotrophic plants are the ones who can prepare their own food from the abiotic (non living simple substances or components) of the environment. This kind of nutrition is called autotrophic nutrition. (Auto meaning self, trophism meaning feeding.) However, some plants like the pitcher plant and the Venus flytrap obtain their nutrition by ingenious methods. They are known as insectivorous plants. They catch insects and inject digestive juices to digest it. They use the nutrition obtained from insects to supplement the food they prepare by photosynthesis.
