Because during day time sunlight will be there but during night time sunlight will not be there.So, plants cannot prepare their food during night so they release carbondioxide

Yes, I agree with this statement because plants respire throughout the day while and as photosynthesis takes place during the presence of sunlight and there is no presence of sunlight during night and therefore plants release carbon dioxide during night time .
