All renewable sources are not based on sunlight. Renewable sources comprises of energy extracted from all natural phenomenon such as the sun, wind, tide, water, fossil fuels, biological occurrences, geothermal heat, rain, wind and etc.

Hence sunlight is not the only source which is used of renewable energy.
