All the coal and petroleum are produced by distillation of biomass yet we need to conserve them. Why?​

Both coal and petroleum take millions of years for their formation and are called as fossil fuels. However, rate of consumption is faster than rate of formation and will get exhausted. Hence we need to conserve them.
