Given :- all cubes below have a different image on each side. select the choice that represents a rotation of the cube labeled X.

Solution :-

In cube X :-

  • 2 dot lines = Let denoted by 2 .
  • 3 dot lines = Let denoted by 3 .
  • 4 dot lines = Let denoted by 4 .

now, checking given options .

A) when we rotate X 90° clockwise we get,

  • 4 on right face .
  • 2 goes at down face .
  • since in (A) both 2 and 4 are given . so, it is not possible .

B) Rotating X 90° anticlockwise we get,

  • 2 = Top face .
  • 4 = Left face and not visible .
  • 3 = Right face .
  • then, (B) is possible.

C) As we can see that, 3 is at same position and rest two changes , then, this cube is also not possible .

E) when we rotate clockwise or anticlockwise 2,3 and 4

will not be visible together again .

F) when we rotate 2 , 90° clockwise .

  • 2 = front face .
  • 3 = left face = not visible .
  • 4 = visible .
  • since 4 is not visible in (E) , this rotation is not possible.

G) when we rotate clockwise or anticlockwise 2,3 and 4 will not be visible together again .

therefore, we can conclude that, only (B) cube is possible when we rotate cube X .
