All expenses relating to purchase of goods are also debited in trading account. These includes carriage inward, freight, import duty, octroi, cartage, clearing charges, and duck charge. The manufacturing expenses which are incurred in the process of converting raw material into finished goods.

All the direct expenses are written in the Trading Account.
- All expenses which relate to either purchase or manufacturing of goods are written on the Debit side of the Trading Account.
- The expenses which not releted to purchase or manufacturing, i.e, indirect nature are not recorded in the Trading Account.
- In case of a trading concern, all expenses incurred in purchasing of the goods, bringing them to the godown and into salable condition are recorded in the Trading Account.
- Purchase, manufacturing expenses, carriage inward, freight, dock chages, wages, import duty, excise duty, packing charges etc. are some expenses of direct nature and these are recorded in the Trading Account.
