when we elctroplate a substance,we are actually depositing a superior metal on an inferior metal....in this context if an article has been electroplated, it glitters just like gold....but isn't gold is it? this is the same with electroplating any metal...it is done purely for increasing the attractivity of a substance and to prevent or protect it from corrosion.

Answer:
All that glitters is not gold
Gold is a metal which is found to be attractive, shiny and glittery. However many a times metals such as gold are electroplated on less expensive metals like copper to give a superior look. Jewellers often do this to make their jewellery more attractive.
