All the jacks, queens and kinhs are removed from a deck of 52 playing cards. the remaining cards are well shuffled and then one card is drawn at random. giving ace a value 1 similar value for other card, find the probability that the card has a value

i) 7
ii)greater than7
iii)less than 7

Answer:

Removing the required cards will leave 40 cards . 

52 -  ( 3 x 4) = 40 cards  ( 4 each of jack , queen and king)

P( 7) = Number of event  /  sample space  =  4 / 40 = 1/10

P(>7) = 3x4 cards (card numbered 8 , 9 and 10 and 4 set of each ) = 12 cards

therefore probability = 12 /40 or 3 by 10

p(<7) = 4 x 6 cards i.e. 24 cards probability = Number of event  /  sample space  =  24 / 40 = 3 / 5
