All the lines of longitudes meet at the poles but the lines of latitude never meet. Why?

Why do all the longitudes meet at the poles? ... longitude that passes through Greenwich observatory in England. By doing this, we created a reference for constructing other longitudes. Now, by making angles with perpendicular line (extending from the axis to the surface).
