All the page numbers from a book are added begining at 1. However, one page number mistakenly added twice the sum obtained was 1000. Which page number was added twice

= (1+2+3+...P+...n) + P = 1000

= n(n+1)/2 +P = 1000

= 1000 - n(n+1)/2 = P

= 1000 - (44 * 45)/2 = P

= 1000 - 990 = P

P = 10

hence 10th page was added twice

Note =

1) sum of first n natural numbers = n(n+1)/2

2) guess the n by trial to get 44
