1. Anand Kumar

His life was tough and grounded at the start but his hardships led his way to Cambridge University which at the time had offered him a seat in their prestigious institution. His papers on the ‘Number Theory’ segment got published in international mathematical magazines. His financial circumstances made him study during the day and sell ‘papad’ in the evening. After 15 years, his teachings led to the admission of 27 out of 30 students for the IIT JEE entrance exam.
2. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

Sam led the victorious Indo - Pak war of 1971. He stood against that time Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s decision to go to war when the army wasn’t ready. But these orders were to be accepted, Sam led the attack to capture ports of Karachi and Lahore and later came to be known as the Indo - Pak war of 1971. His devotion and heroic act could not be captured in articles or words but I suggest you read his story on the different platforms. Sam was a fearless leader and he deserves all the recognition for his work.
3. Anandibai Joshi

First woman doctor from India, born in 1865. She was married off at the young age of 9. Anandibai overcame the stigma that women’s education was not important and considered irrelevant by society. She fought for her dreams but also managed to train herself in western medicine and became the only woman physician from South Asia at that time. With the help of her liberal husband, she stood against all odds and opened ways for the Indian women for reaching their full potential.
4. Arunima Sinha

She ran over by a train and climbed Mt Everest 2 years later. Arunima is a national level volleyball player. She was 23 at the time when she was travelling by a padmavat express when a gang of thieves attacked her. However, she resisted and the goons threw her out of the moving trains where she was run over by 49 carriages, she counted them all. The doctors had to amputate her legs to save her life. But she never lost hope, and two year later she climbed the tallest mountain in the world. Mount Everest which made her the first women amputee to scale the mountain. She continues to climb more peaks and make the country proud.
5. Sohaila Abdulali

Fighting sexual violence, Sohaila was only 17 when a gang of four men armed with sickle raped her and held her friend hostage for long hours. However, this thing was not something that could hold her from doing great in life. Sohaila went on and became an author writing two books in the process. You can read her article "After Being Raped, I Was Wounded, My Honor Wasn't" which was published in the New York Times .
