All we have to fear is fear itself -says Rosevelt . Explain with reference to Deep water
Answers
William Douglas in 'Deep Water" gives a real life account of the various difficulties he went through owing to his fear of water when he was in it and how the very fear led him to a near death experience. But he also beautifully explains how through multiple levels of cross- checking and introspection he was successfully able to alleviate his distress. On overcoming his fear, he felt liberated and felt he could move even mountains. He is reminded of the phrase that all we have to fear is fear itself as nothing else in the world is worth dreading about and that there is nothing that cannot be achieved. In this context the only fear one should worry about is the fear itself.

Since there is peace in death, there is no use in fearing for death. In "Deep Waters", William Douglas struggled when he was met with the misadventure that scarred him with the aversiom to water even till he attained adulthood. One day , he was all alone in the YMCA pool when a big boy of 18 years old came in and threw him into the water. He was scared to the bone but on his way down to the bottom of the pool, he thought of a strategy. He made an effort to jump, lie flat on the surface and swim to the edge but he failed twice. The third time he sank back into the water, he found himself weak and his legs numb. His lung ached and he was struggling for life but slowly he passed into oblivion. All the suffering stopped and he was floating in the water as if he had been floating in space. He felt at peace;he was calm. And slowly the curtain of life fell. From this misadventure, William Douglas learnt that his fear of death was the only thing he had to fear as there is peace in death.
