Allahabad pillar inscription was created by Emperor Ashoka.

The Allahabad pillar is one of the Ashoka Stambha, the pillar made and erected by  Ashoka, an emperor of the Maurya dynasty who reigned during  3rd century BCE.

There are three sets of inscriptions are found on the column from the three emperors namely,  

•    Ashoka Maurya,  

•    Samudragupta and

•    Jahangir.

The Allahabad Pillar is a single shaft made of polished sandstone  35 feet high.

It has a bottom diameter of 35 inches and an upper diameter of 26 inches.

The customary loti form bell-shaped capital seen in the other Ashoka Pillars is lost is not found in this pillar.
