Answers
Given :- Allen and annie travel at x m /s and y m /s respectively. if the distance covered by both of them is the same , what is the ratio of the time taken by allen to that of annie ?
Solution :-
Let us assume that, distance covered by them is D m .
so,
→ Allen speed = x m/s
→ Distance = D m
→ Time = D/S = D/x m/s
and,
→ Annie speed = y m/s
→ Distance = D m
→ Time = D/S = D/y m/s
then,
→ Time ratio = D/x : D/y = Dy : Dx /xy = y : x (Ans.)
therefore, we can conclude that,
- when Distance is constant speed is inversely proportional to time .

To Find the ratio of the time taken by allen to that of annie
Solution:
Distance = Speed * time
time taken by allen =t₁
time taken by annie = t₂
=>x * t₁ = y * t₂
=> t₁ / t₂ = y/x
the ratio of the time taken by allen to that of annie = y/x
