Explanation:

1. The swallow was migrating off to Egypt for warmth. He stopped at the prince's statue to sleep for the night as it already got dark.

2. The swallow was always in high spirits when he used to tell the prince he will be going to Egypt tonight because he was excited to spend his time with his family and friends who were already in Egypt.

3. The swallow was hesitant to pluck out the sapphires because if he did so the prince would have been blind and the swallow was taking pity on him.

4. The playwright could buy firewood after selling the sapphire and heat the small room where he was writing and then complete his play. Since it was winter , the playwright had no wood and his fingers were numb.

5. The seamstress could sell the ruby and with the money she could buy food for her son who was sick and was hungry.

6. The swallow went over the harbour to look over the city.

7. The prince thought his city was happy, his people was happy but little did he know the real condition. The swallow flew over the city and saw the miserable condition of the people. The rich were making more money whereas the poor people were delving in much darkness.

8. The girl had lost all her matches and was crying because she knew her father will beat her if she returns home without money. Getting the sapphire she grew happy because she didn't have to worry about the money anymore.

9. The prince's statue was covered in gold leafs but after the bird took all those leaves the statue looked dull with no brightness and no gleam in his eyes and so the mayor told the people to throw away the statue.

10. The swallow was very much acquainted with the prince now and after doing some good deeds , he felt he could do more. He started loving the prince for his good heart .

11. God approved the choices for the two precious things in the city because one was already a good person who couldn't do anything but still tried and the other did all the good deeds yet didn't hesitate giving up his life.

12. The workmen threw away the heart because it won't melt.
