Allison is laying pavers to build a patio in her backyard. Each square paver measures 2 feet on each side. She would like the patio to be 12 feet by 4 feet. Area of a square formula A = s2. Area of a rectangle formula A = lw. How many pavers does Allison need to build the patio?

Answer: 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's try to visualize the situation.

a patio is bigger than the pavers . so in that case some number of pavers should be put together to form the patio!

now ,

dimensions of the patio= 12 feet by 4 feet

which actually means....

length of the patio = 12 feet

breadth of the patio = 4 feet

therefore area of the patio = 12 x 4= 48 sq feet

so the patio here is a big rectangle of area 48 sq feet .

we are given with square pavers of side 2 feet each .

which means ,

area of the pavers= 2 x 2 = 4 sq feet

now the number of pavers required= area of patio / area of pavers

                                                           = 48/4

                                                           = 12

so , allison needs 12 pavers in all to build the patioin her backyard yay ! and then she can have steaks !!!
