Alloys are used in electrical heating devices rather than pure metals, because of the following reasons:

(i) Alloys have high resistivity as compared to  their constituent metals.
(ii) Alloys do not get oxidise(burn) at high temperatures which helps in           preventing short circuit.

b) The conductors of electric heating devices such as bread toasters and electric irons are made of alloy because

◾resistivity of an alloy is more than that of metals.

◾It produces large amount of heat and do not burn easily.
