Alluvial soil can hold moisture and is very fertile:- Alluvial soil can hold moisture and is very fertile because the alluvial soil is made up of fine particles. The soil is very fertile because it is rich in mineral nutrients like potash and lime.

"Alluvial soil can hold moisture and is very fertile"

Justification:-

  • Alluvial soil are found in river belts and mostly in Himalayan river system- the Indus, the Brahmaputra, the Ganga.
  • In southern part of India, in Krishna-Godavari basins and Kaveri Delta.
  • These soil are very fertile as they contain adequate proportions of potash, phosphoric acid and lime which are adequate for sugarcane, paddy, wheat, and other cereal crops.
