Almond is considered the king of nuts. It reportedly originated in Iran. Ancient Romans, however, called almonds “Greek nuts.” Its tree is closely related to peach, apricot and cherry, all belonging to the genus prunes and bearing stone fruits.

It is an excellent source of calories and poly unsaturated fatty acids, potassium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus.
