Holla!
In humans high Level of consciencness is found because of our well developed nervous system and good skills of communication which is known as self-consciousness.
The brain dead coma patient who is supported by machines which replace heart and lungs also has consciencness so it is living but don't possess self-consciousness because it has lost all the coordination of the organs of the body parts.
It means that all the phenomena is occurring due to underlying interactions between the different components of an individual.
Thanks!

Hi friend,
Patients in coma are usually living with the lack of consciousness at that time.
Usually come persons will have the damage at the brain stem and it makes then conscious and lack of attentions and it seriously attacks the pond to make them in sleepy condition.
Further it attacks the cerebral cortex of the brain and the influx of memory and attentions.
Hope this helped you a little!!
If you have further any dout please contact me!!!!
