There are six types of roads . They are :-
1 ) Golden quadrilateral super highway
2) National highway
3) State highway
4) District roads
5) Other roads
6) Border roads .
Now , explanation .
1) GOLDEN QUADRILATERAL SUPER HIGHWAY :-
There are the longest and widest roads of India joining India from end to end.
Two roads comes under it .
( i ) North - South corridors
- It joins the northernmost part of india ( Jammu & Kashmir ) to southernmost part of India ( Kanyakumari )
( ii ) East - West corridors
- It joins the easternmost part of India ( Silcher , Assam ) to westernmost part of India ( Porbander , Gujarat ) .
It is implemented and taken care by "National Highway Authority of India" ( NHAI ) .
2 ) NATIONAL HIGHWAY ( NH ) :-
They are laid out and mentioned by the "Central Public Work Development" ( CPWD ) .
These highways joins the different states of India with each other and making it possible for greater journey ahead .
The first National Highway was NH - 1 , named " Sher Shah Suri Marg " .
It joins Delhi to Amritsar .
3 ) STATE HIGHWAY ( SH ) :-
These are state highways and constructed and mentioned by "Public Work Department " ( PWD ) .
These highways connects the different cities and towns within a state .
4 ) DISTRICT ROADS :-
These type of roads are mentioned and constructed by " Zila Parishad " .
These roads connect different towns within a District .
5 ) OTHER ROADS :-
These of roads are present in villages and mainly it connects villages to villages ir valleys and some towns too .
It is implemented through ' Pradha Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana " ( Prime Minister Rural Road Scheme ) .
6 ) BORDER ROADS :-
These are of roads are found mainy in boarder part of India ,where there is not souch development ( remote areas of a country , or say countryside ) .
It is also present in hilly regions where there are less means of communication .
