Hlooo dear..!!!

Geographical isolation is isolation of a population of the same species by means of some physical (geographical) barrier like river, mountain, plateau, big glacier etc.

When some members of a particular species are not able to mate with other members of the same species due to environmental barriers or due to  other geographical barriers, it is known as reproductive isolation.

hope it helps :)

Hey

We meet again ! Duh!! >_<
Ur qn :)

Reproductive Isolation + Geographical Isolation... both are topics that come under Speciation ... And the mere knowledge of that .. helps determine the differences...

Now, what we find are : ->
--> Definition Differences ->

( i ) Geographical Isolation :->
The seperation of two populations due to a physical barrier !!

( ii ) Reproductive Isolation :->
The seperation of two populations of a species in such a way that they cannot interbreed and produce a fertile offspring due to environmental ( geographical behaviours / physical behaviours ) , physiological , temporal ( time and temperature for Mating ... ) barriers....

Umm.. now the 'Cause' Difference -->

( you can check out the abv. barrier differences 0_0 )

( i ) Geographical Isolation :-> Due to Geographical Barriers
( ii ) Reproductive Isolation :-> Due to Temporal / Behavioral / Geographical  Barriers !!

----> The Significance :->
--> Geographical Isolation is kinda ( mathematically --> Subset :p ) of Reproductive Isolation

--> Reproductive Isolation is  the major cause of *Speciation* =_=

Now, finally Example difference -->

( i ) Geographical Isolation :-> Darwin Finches
( ii ) Reproductive Isolation :-> Left-coiled and Right coiled Snails..

-->
And if uh cn ... plz frame a difference out of the Self-Reproduction Capabilities of Organisms in both Isolation methods +_+

--> Note :->
( This one would be a Pathetically High Level One ) --> Geographical Isolation leads to allopatric speciation through adaptive radiation.

^_^ Hope this helps !!

locomaniac: thank you so much for helping me again!
ΑͶδH: :p No thnx b/w frnds duh ! =_=
