Given :- Along the highway, there are electric poles on one side of the highway and telegraph poles on the other side. The electric poles are all separated by 12 m and the telegraph poles are separated by 140 m.

Solution :-

→ Distance between electric poles = 12 m

and,

→ Distance between telegraph poles = 140 m .

so, both poles will be in front of each other again after the distance of LCM(12 m , 140m) .

then, prime factors of 12 and 140 :-

→ 12 = 2 * 2 * 3

→ 140 = 2 * 2 * 5 * 7

so,

→ LCM = 2 * 2 * 3 * 5 * 7 = 140 * 3 = 420 m .

therefore, after 420 m they both be in front of each other again .
